As a native of Plaquemines Parish and an artist, I have always been passionate about connecting our community through art. It has been my goal to highlight the unique culture of home and celebrate our community through my works. While you will find contemporary art, sculpture and murals in my body of work you will also find plenty of "hints of home". If you live in or visit our community, it will be obvious that the inspiration for many of my works have come straight from the natural resources and bountiful wildlife in our area.

The Belle Chasse bridge has loomed over the landscape in Belle Chasse all of my life. We scheduled errands around whether it was raised or lowered and some of us jumped off of it to swim in the canal during the hot summer months of our childhood (yes.... I was one of those kids). We have had a love/hate relationship with the bridge as a community and it has been making all of us late since 1968. Soon it will be gone forever and we come to an end of an era. I wanted to mark the end of that era with a print that will serve as a reminder for us of a simpler time in our community. "What's Up" was inspired by my memories of growing up in Belle Chasse and of the many hours in my life that I sat on that bridge trying to hurry across to the other side, of conversations had standing outside of our cars waiting on the boat to pass, of hoping the grate was "in place" when I was the first one in line and the bridge went down.... and so many other things. I painted the bridge in the down position because I wanted to illustrate the positive in my tribute to the bridge. Stay tuned for the companion piece featuring the Belle Chasse Tunnel coming soon!
