LAYAYA CULINARY ARTS

Since 2013 LAYAYA has offered Culinary Arts in our programming to help young people gain confidence and skills in the kitchen!

Our Next Session is our sweetest one yet!!!

2nd Saturday Dessert Culinary Sessions

Second Saturday Dessert Dynasty is a hands-on culinary program designed for young chefs ages 8–12 who are ready to explore cooking and creating desserts.

Class Dates & Times:

Saturday, July 11 | 12:00 M – 3PM

Saturday, Aug. 8 | 12PM – 3PM

Get ready to whisk it all and have a blast at LAYAYA’s sweetest new culinary adventure — our dessert-themed culinary arts session for ages 8–12! This deliciously fun hands-on program will take place on the 2nd Saturday of July & August, with each class serving up over 3 hours of sugary creativity, kitchen confidence, and confection connection! Classes are Noon-3pm for cooking time each Saturday (with group clean up and recap following).

Young chefs will be divided into dessert dream teams as they mix, bake, drizzle, decorate, and create several sweet treats while learning real culinary skills along the way. Students will explore kitchen safety, baking basics, tempering chocolate, food presentation, decorating techniques, how to read and adapt recipes, teamwork, timing, and more. From “whisk takers” to frosting bosses, every student will get hands-on experience working with stovetop cooking and baking equipment in a fun and supervised environment.

This class is the icing on the cake for young creators who love to learn, experiment, and make sweet memories! Participants must be able to attend sessions as scheduled, as each class builds layer upon layer of tasty skills.

So don’t miss your chance to join us — space is limited and these spots are sure to go fast!

This sweet collaboration is another fun partnership program between LAYAYA and the Plaquemines Parish Department of Arts, Parks & Recreation. Come ready to sprinkle in some creativity, stir up some fun, and bake the world a butter place!
