Since 2013 LAYAYA has offered Culinary Arts in our programming to help young people gain confidence and skills in the kitchen!
Second Saturday BRUNCH Bunch is a hands-on culinary program designed for young chefs ages 8–13 who are ready to explore cooking through classic brunch favorites and real kitchen experiences.
Classes meet on the second Saturday of each month and allow students to build skills over time while learning kitchen safety, food prep, recipe reading, cooking techniques, and presentation

Saturday, March 14 | 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM
Saturday, April 11 | 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM
Saturday, May 9 | 9:00 AM – 11:30 AM
(earlier start for finale Mother’s Day Brunch)
Finale – Mother’s Day Brunch
The May 9 class will culminate in a Mother’s Day Brunch experience. Students will prep early, and guests will arrive for brunch service beginning at 10:30 AM, where families can sample the delicious dishes prepared by the young chefs. Each student’s registration includes one guest for the finale brunch. Young chefs will learn to make such Louisiana classic favorites as Shrimp & Grits, French Toast (Lost bread), Cajun Quiche and more!
This program is offered through a partnership with Plaquemines Parish Department of Arts, Parks & Recreation at a reduced cost of $40 per student.
Space is limited in this program.
Successful students must be able to work in a group setting, follow safety rules, follow instructions and HAVE FUN while gaining a lifelong love of cooking!
Students should be dedicated to attending all 3 class sessions to complete the course.
