AUDITIONS July 6-12 2026!

Our youth theater troupe will be working on a howling good Halloween production to be presented October 2026.  Youth ages 7-17 are invited to audition!  To schedule an appointment, complete the form at the bottom of this page. This project is a partnership between LAYAYA and Plaquemines Parish Dept. of Arts, Parks & Recreation. 

  When a powerful storm knocks out the electricity at Camp Cypress, eight young campers find themselves stranded around a campfire deep in the Louisiana swamp. With only a crackling radio, a few flashlights, and each other, the campers decide to pass the time swapping spooky stories about the legendary Rougarou, mysterious swamp creatures, and the eerie haunted lights said to wander the bayou after dark.

But what begins as harmless storytelling quickly becomes something much more real.

As strange howls echo through the trees, glowing eyes appear in the darkness, and mysterious figures begin stalking the campsite, the campers discover they aren't alone. Every unexplained event seems to draw thousands more viewers to Indigo's livestream on the hottest new social media app, leaving one question that refuses to go away...

Who's really watching whom?

With a fearless storyteller, an aspiring investigative reporter, a know-it-all, a reluctant gamer, an outdoor-hating girly girl, a nervous camper, a tiny but surprisingly brave adventurer, and one influencer who can't put her phone down, this unlikely group must work together to uncover the truth before the night is over.

Packed with Louisiana folklore, laugh-out-loud comedy, surprising twists, jump scares, and a mystery worthy of a classic Saturday morning adventure, The Legend of Camp Cypress reminds us that the greatest connections aren't always made through a screen—they're often found around a campfire, sharing stories with friends.

Will the campers solve the mystery before sunrise... or will Camp Cypress become their final ghost story?
